Hackett & O'Brien High Schools
Class of 1970

Welcome Classmates

This web site was created and continues to be updated for Hackett and O'Brien Class of 1970

We will continue to do our best to bring you information on upcoming events, not only as a class but for our individual classmates as well.

If you have updates, for yourself or for any member of our class please send them to and they will get posted usually the same day.

We hope you enjoy the information our site and that you will share it with other classmates who you know may not have registered with us yet.

Good News!!!!!!!

After getting numerous responses to the poll, it was decided to indeed have the Hackett-Obrien Class of 1970 51st Reunion as planned on August 21st of this year.

Within the next week or so, you will be getting a Save-The-Date postcard in the mail to serve as a reminder for the reunion. Not that any of us are getting older and maybe more forgetful.

In mid to late May, you will receive a letter containing more Reunion information and registration for the event.

The 51st Reunion will be highlighted with the music from Jeff Brown and his internationally acclaimed and award winning band. They will feature music from the 60's and early 70's.

Diane Kuchenbach Dalm will once again host the event Auction that we hope will feature donated artistic treasures from members of the Class of 1970 and other great opportunities.

Please go to our Class of 1970 website: and update your profile information. If you do not remember your user name or password, send an email to Paul and Linda Matyas at and we will reset it.

Stay tuned, and we hope to see all of you at the reunion.

The Gang of 10 Reunion Committee

Well, we are all tired of COVID and masks and all that. Michigan has finally relaxed its restrictions, so by popular request, the Guys luncheon is starting back up again.

This time, we will meet at Louie's Restaurant in Texas Corners 7177 West Q Ave. WE ARE NOT MEETING AT THE DOWNTOWN KALAMAZOO LOCATION.

Lunch date/time is Saturday June 5th at 11:45 a.m. so we can beat the noon crowd.

We will take a moment to tip a glass to Tom Sloan who passed away last week as he always attended the luncheons and had a good time.

Directions: US 131 South to Centre St exit which is about 1 mile south of I-94. Go west on Centre St about 2 miles. Centre St changes its name to West Q Ave. Just past 8th St (Texas Corners) is a shopping plaza on the left. Louie's is on the north end of the plaza.

Hope to see you there.

Additional Request!

We would appreciate it if you could update your profile and keep us up to date on how you are doing - are you retired, still working for corporate America....moved,, get the picture.

Our Class website has been a great way to connect many of us, over the last few years. We do our best to keep the website up to date and as relative as possible and we enjoy doing it.

So, when you have a few minutes please update your profile, and so inclined, please add a story or two; I am sure we all have one or many.

Let us know how we can improve the web site and trust that we will hear you and do our best to make it happen.

Our Fifty Year Reunion is coming in 2020 - seems far away but it isn't, like it or not....So, we would love to make sure we have all your current information, at least the best way to contact you, which is usually your email. It would also be most helpful to get your input on what would make Reunion 50 a grand affair that would definitely make it worth your while to join us - we can't guarantee we can meet every request but will do our level best to make it happen.

Though over 60% of our Class has registered on our website there are many who have not - maybe that is simply because they choose not to but maybe it is simply they either are not aware or haven't been asked. If you know someone not yet registered reach out to them and encourage them to register - it is not difficult and we don't share their information in any way - it is all about the Class of 70 - that's it.

We have connected many, over the last ten years, and would enjoy connecting virtually everyone. So, please update, share, and encourage; it will be appreciated.

We hope you all have an outstanding 2019 and we hope you will keep in touch and enjoy the website.

Better Late Than Never....

Reunion Photos Right Now and Videos Coming Soon!

Well, thanks to Deb Vorick and Terri Wischerath helping share some of the great times we enjoyed, both Friday evening at St. Ambrose Parish Hall and Saturday evening at Lake Doster Country Club. There are more photos to be launched soon as well as videos (your going to love the videos) - so watch for an update soon. Till then each of you, especially those in the photos, have the opportunity to fill in the blanks on each image, so have at it and keep it midly clean!
